DOMAINE MÉA
Five generations of the Méa family have made wine in the Grand Cru village of Louvois since 1922. The estate's unbroken lineage of family knowledge has adapted through profound history—including a period during WWII when nine-year-old Guy Méa managed the estate while his father was held prisoner. Today, that stewardship passes proudly from mother to daughter, with current winemaker Sophie leading the domain into its next chapter. The estate spans 24 plots planted predominantly to Pinot Noir across two Grand Cru and four Premier Cru villages. In the vineyard, the family works the surface soil to encourage deep roots without disrupting vital microbial life. Entirely rejecting chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. With no rigid rules in the cellar, Sophie evaluates and vinifies each plot separately every year to reflect the exact nuances of terroir and vintage. The resulting champagnes beautifully capture a century of survival, family legacy, and generational knowledge.
