MARX-COUTELAS
Champagne Marx-Coutelas draws from an extraordinary history, with family winemaking roots in Venteuil tracing back to 1675 and their first sparkling bottles produced in 1927. Today, fourth-generation winemaker Bryan Marx manages the estate's 5.5 hectares spread across 30 plots. The foundation for his blends includes a historic, 11th-century south-facing plateau vineyard planted on sand, clay, and deep calcareous subsoil. Bryan brings a decidedly modern approach to this ancient terroir. By harvesting highly mature fruit, lowering dosages, and entirely eliminating synthetic treatments in favor of cover crops, he has created a remarkably fresh take on centuries-old land. The wines are exciting and only headed for more and more greatness. Beyond his family cellars, Bryan serves as the president of Epicurewine, an avant-garde collective of next-generation winemakers unconditionally supporting innovation. His forward-thinking philosophy directly reflects in his bottles—delivering exciting, place-driven champagnes that age beautifully in the family's hand-dug chalk cellars.
