DOMAINE ROUSSEAUX-BATTEUX 'Les Champs Brules' Coteaux Champenois Rouge

While Adrien's single-plot champagnes are highly sought after, his still red wine, known as a Coteaux Champenois, is an absolute phantom. It is crafted from Pinot Noir old vines planted back in 1964 in a specific vineyard plot in Verzy called "Les Champs Brûlés" (The Burnt Fields). Adrien ages the wine for a patient 18 months in oak barrels before bottling it completely unfined and unfiltered. Because it is a microscopic micro-production, he often releases as few as 290 to 450 bottles total for an entire vintage.

Why we love it: This is aromatic, wild and complex with red fruits like strawberries, sour cherries and rhubarb.
