DANIEL MOREAU 'Pièce Maîtresse' Magnum

Translated as the "Masterpiece," this cuvée is the flagship mechanism of fourth-generation winemaker Bastien Moreau. Sourced exclusively from certified organic, chalk-heavy parcels in Vandières, it features a balanced blend of Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Bastien vinifies each of his 16 small estate plots entirely separately before blending. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, is aged for 36 months on the lees with 10% raised in oak barrels, and is bottled with an ultra-low, crisp 2g/L dosage.

Why we love it: It strikes a gorgeous, hyper-methodical balance between crunchy orchard energy and subtle, savory maturity. The nose opens with a lovely combination of red apples, fresh cherries, and preserved orange peel.

The vibe: Since this is a magnum, open this for book club with a cheese board that might include a trip-cream cow's milk, 36-month aged Comté, Chaource or an aged Gouda.
