OCTOBER 2025
At Champagne Happy Hour we pride ourselves on finding the best, brightest and most exciting champagne producers that you have never heard of and introducing them to you. This month you will be receiving the very first bottles ever in the United States of Brice Allouchery.
We were introduced to Brice this spring through a mutual friend and on our initial visit to his cellars in Ecueil we were flabbergasted. The attention to detail in the vineyard and his meticulous winemaking have resulted in some of the deepest, richest most exciting bottles of champage we have come across in years. We took a few bottles with us when we left and have been slowly enjoying them as we waited for them to arrive in the US. Now they are here and we can finally share them with you.
Brice took over his family winery in 2018 and quickly began converting the farming to organics. The vineyards were all panted by his grandfather 60 years ago and his cold deep cellar filled with beautiful old oak barrels give his wines a beautiful space to rest before being bottled and released in to the world. Patience is the key in the cellar but we would recommend popping these in your fridge and enjoying them soon, of course they will age but why wait!
This is the first release from Brice and the range currently consists of three different cuvees. Pinots Noirs is a blend of their best plots of that grape from the villages of Ecueil and Sacy. The soils are sand, limestone and clay over chalk. Each type lends something different to the blend and the resulting wine is layered deep and a joy to drink. Only 3,450 bottles were produced.
Les Sablons is from the magnificent 2019 vintage. The grapes are grown on sandy soils from the middle of a north facing slope in Sacy. The wine is fine, pure and reveals itself in the most exciting way. 20% Chardonnay in the blend softens the power of the Pinot Noir. It is in the running for the best champagne we have had this year. Just 1,390 bottles of this were made.
Les Hauts Bourgeois is a single vineyard planted in the village of Sacy in 1998. it is 100% Pinot and both lift each other to heights Noir and will challenge your thoughts about Blanc de Noirs. It is as much Pinot Noir as it is champagne and both are brought to new heights in this cuvee. It is hard to say enough about how spectacular it is, you will just have to try it.
