NOVEMBER 2025

This month we are doing something a little different two bottles from the same winemaker but from different labels!

Bryan Marx is a third generation winemaker who took over from his parents in 2017. His first order of business was to change all of the farming of his 7 hectares in the village of Venteuil along the River Marne. He made the switch from conventional over to organic viticulture. It was the beginning of a dramatic rethinking of the entire family estate. Winemaking was modernized, the portfolio was reworked and the quality went up quickly. His family estate, known as Champagne Marx-Coutelas became a standout and Bryan a winemaker to watch.

In parallel Bryan started a new label, Domaine des Tuileries, for his terroir driven single vineyard wines. Named after a favorite picnic spot he shared with his grandfather near the Tuileries under an Acacia tree in his village. These wines are made with an intentionality that shows off each grape grown with the best possible vineyard conditions and then bottled on it's own. The wines are a love song to a family heritage of grape growing going back to 1675.

The vineyards are old with an average age of 60 years and planted in the westernmost chalk outcroppings in Champagne. As the vineyards travel further west the chalk disappears and other soils become the prominent influence on the wines. Here in Venteuil the wines have the finesse and the power that comes from the confluence of two major forces in the region; chalk and clay.

Each of the wines of Domaine des Tuileries feature a single grape and as single vineyard. They have been farmed to the specific need of each grape, harvested individually and aged in old barrels.

If we could send you one of every wine Bryan makes we would. Instead we have chosen two beautiful expressions for you to begin your exploration of Bryan's winemaking. A Rosé that will be great with turkey and cranberry sauce and, of course, a Tuileries to get you excited to try the others!

Thank you so much for coming on this journey with us, we appreciate you.
